Pupil Premium Funding
Sedgefield Community College believes in providing the best possible education for children from all backgrounds and of all abilities. We are proud of our fully inclusive approach, offering a wide range of activities and resources for all of our pupils both in and outside of school. We are particularly proud of the way in which we recognise that some children may be faced with additional barriers to learning and the way in which we then work tirelessly to overcome these.
Pupil premium funding supports us in overcoming these barriers to learning. At Sedgefield Community College, pupil premium funding has been used in a strategic way, allowing us to effectively support the children who are part of our disadvantaged student cohort to achieve their full potential. We employ strategies that are designed to ensure excellent attendance, behaviour and external examination outcomes.
Amongst other strategies, we have employed a number of specialist staff to enable our most disadvantaged children to engage fully in the education we offer and maximise learning opportunities. We recognise that high levels of attendance underpin the educational experience of our disadvantaged students and there is a particular focus on initiatives that support children to attend school each day. We recognise that children are most likely to thrive and achieve extraordinary things when they feel happy and also have a strong sense of belonging to our school community. This understanding underpins our pupil premium approach and the full strategy can be read by clicking the link below.
