Pupil Premium Funding

The Government believes that the Pupil Premium funding (including Recovery Pupil Premium), which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to ‘address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.’

Sedgefield Community College believes in providing the best possible education for children from all backgrounds and of all abilities. We are proud of our fully inclusive approach, offering a wide range of activities and resources for all of our pupils both in and outside of school.

Pupil premium funding has allowed us to fully fund, as well as subsidise, particular areas in school which has provided our more disadvantaged children with the opportunity to improve their learning opportunities, whilst on many occasions letting us improve provision for other students who do not qualify for pupil premium.

Amongst other strategies, we have employed a number of specialist staff to support our most disadvantaged children to ensure that they can fully engage in the education we offer and maximise learning opportunities. We also, use some of this additional funding to improve the attendance of selected students.

Pupil Premium funding provides the school with the financial assurance that we are able to plan whole school priorities, safe in the knowledge that we can support all children in making progress, through providing a fully inclusive, safe and fun place to be, that is accessible to everyone regardless of financial pressures placed upon families.
