Transition

We are delighted to welcome you and your child to Sedgefield Community College and to help you get ready for the secondary phase.

Introduction

Sedgefield Community College is a thriving and happy learning community where high expectations and standards underpin everything we do. Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to ensure every student reaches their full potential, supporting them to realise their capacity for excellence. Through strong partnerships between school and home, we help our pupils achieve their goals and embrace the vision of “Achieve at Sedgefield.”

At SCC, we combine high standards with tailored support, ensuring students are happy, confident, and motivated to learn. From attendance and behaviour to uniform and classroom engagement, we maintain consistency while providing additional help when needed. This approach creates a positive, supportive environment where pupils are excited by learning and encouraged to thrive.

Our aim is for every student to leave SCC as a highly qualified, confident, and articulate young adult, fully equipped with the skills and personal qualities to succeed in the modern, global world. We pride ourselves on continuous improvement and innovation, listening to feedback and striving for excellence. We warmly welcome prospective families to visit and see for themselves what makes Sedgefield Community College such a special place.

Transition Days

As part of the Year 6 to Year 7 transition process, we hold dedicated transition days to give pupils the opportunity to experience life at Sedgefield Community College before starting in September. These days allow students to familiarise themselves with the school building, meet key staff, take part in lessons and spend time with their new classmates.

For September 2026 starters, our transition days will be announced soon.

Student Stories

We’re excited to share a series of student videos to give prospective pupils and their families a real insight into life at our academies. These videos feature current students talking about their first impressions, how they settled in and the opportunities they’ve enjoyed since joining.

Through these stories, parents and students can see the supportive learning environment, the variety of enrichment opportunities and the welcoming community that makes each academy unique. The videos offer an authentic perspective, helping future pupils feel confident and excited about their own journey with us.
